UPDATED: Washtenaw County Board Of Commissioners To Vote On Millage Renewal Wed June 5, 2024 7pm

I published a version of this op-ed about the pending potential renewal of the Washtenaw County Mental Health/ Public Safety Millage on the day of the most recent County Board of Commissioners meeting this past Wednesday. This version linked to below includes an update that summarizes some of the proceedings that night, including a link to a youtube video of the comments I made at the beginning of that meeting which focused on the fact that the BOC members are voting on this *without* having all the details, line items of the sheriff’s budget. I have a FOIA request being processed for those documents, but don’t expect to receive them until Friday June 7, two days after the next BOC meeting during which commissioners are poised to vote to put the millage up for a renewal vote in November 2024.
