Keeping An Eye On Agendas, Juneteenth In Ypsi And Ann Arbor June 18 & 19, Washtenaw Camp Outreach BBQ @ Wheeler Park Sunday June 12 330pm, Achievement Unlocked: 100 Free Subscribers :-)

Hey all welcome back to Outreach Notebook for Sunday June 12, 2022. This week while a lull in activity for some local municipalities takes over, there is the specter of local elections in Ann Arbor and in Ypsi City, the County. We will cover those candidates and issues-at-play in the coming weeks.

Keeping An Eye On Agendas

While there are less items on the agenda for these meetings of course it’s still good to watch what is coming across local public decision-making tables. How though?

Ypsilanti Township

Go to this page for the Board of Trustees meeting agenda and minutes from the last previous meeting and below that the next one coming up. There is also a lot of info elsewhere on the ytown site. Spend a few minutes poking around if you like. We did and found this update on June 10 re: ARPA funds use:

Ypsi City

Use this link for City Council agendas and minutes. The page should look like this:

Upcoming meeting agendas should also appear here. The next Ypsi City Council meeting is on June 21. However the agenda is not posted to this page yet. We did a cursory search around the city site but could not locate an agenda for the 21st. If you know where the agendas for upcoming Ypsi City Council meetings…

The default setting for this page looks like the image below.

The first step to narrow down to one or how many board agendas you want to appear so click on the “Select a Category” drop down window. Then click on “All Categories” to uncheck and clear all agendas from the page.

Then of course you can select the agenda[s] you do want to see.

Click the search magnifying glass to pull up the list of agendas you selected.

After you click the search magnifying glass, in the scenario above, the result would be the first image in this section for city council meetings.

We will cover Ann Arbor and Washtenaw County agenda, minutes navigation next week on Outreach Notebook for Sunday June 19, 2022.

Juneteenth Celebrations in Ypsi and Ann Arbor

The fight for municipal reparations will continue. However, there is still time for us to pump the brakes, slow down and celebrate what has been achieved in terms of racial equity/justice so we can be refreshed to continue the pressing for tangible changes that improve the material lots of Black families and residents.

Toward that end, there are two Juneteenth events coming up next week to be aware of:

  1. Here is a link to more info about the Ypsi Juneteenth Celebration June 18 & 19

    2. More info about the Ann Arbor NAACP Juneteenth Celebration can be found here.

Washtenaw Camp Outreach BBQ 330pm Wheeler Park today Sunday June 12, 2022

Washtenaw Camp Outreach [WCO], a grassroots mutual aid organization, will have one of its two BBQs per month today Sunday June 12, 2022 at Wheeler Park in Ann Arbor near the Amtrak station at Depot and 4th Ave.

We know, short notice but if you are able to join and have any of the items noted below, gently used… feel free to bring and donate to the WCO for distribution to those sleeping outside and in other places not meant for long term human habitation.

Here are some items typically sought during the summer months: bug spray [the need for this is huge and never-ending during summer], socks, brown or green tarps, tents, light sleeping bags, and shelf stable food that is readily opened, can openers, H2O.

100 Subscribers after ~3 months.

Thank you for reading, commenting and sharing :-)

We are committed to keeping this a free community service, currently an adjunct to the outreach efforts of yours truly. But that could evolve into something more diverse. We will see what emerges in the coming months. For now, take it easy and have a cool Sunday! We wouldn’t be here if you hadn’t been there.™

THANK YOU WASHTENAW COUNTY 🙏
