Fundraiser For the $938 The WCSO Wants To Provide Its Line Item Budget Documents
Back in 2017, Washtenaw County voters approved an 8-year millage for mental health and public safety. The millage is being put forward for a rubber stamp renewal this year even though the millage still has another year and a half of collection left. Washtenaw County Commissioners are doing this even though we’ve had little oversight of the sheriff’s [WCSO] portion of those funds. We also cannot see the WCSO entire budget including line item expenditures on the WCSO webpage.
I put in a FOIA request [see attached image] and received a response from the WCSO FOIA officer that it will cost $938 for me to obtain the relevant documents. While I think on principle, none of us residents should have to pay for this info as the WCSO is a publicly owned organization. However, in the interest of obtaining the documents in a timely fashion so that I can share the info with all county residents I decided to ask for donations to cover the cost. Feel free to reach me through this page, send me an email with any questions etc.
We have raised $425 so far. Thanks to everyone who has and who will pitch-in a few dollars to get those WCSO budget line item documents!

Thanks for your time and consideration, Greg Pratt LMSW
