#eastannarbor in Glen Arbor: Holding Tight and Letting Go

Outreach Notebook Returns Sunday July 3, 2022

Photos and stories from the Leelanau Peninsula and Traverse Bay Regions June 2022

We are “up north” this week and at Glen Lake, which is the lake seen in many a postcard picture taken from the Sleeping Bear Dunes. Some hopeful locals a few years back were advocating the dunes be added as an “Eighth Wonder of the World.

Red dot in upper right corner marks approximately where we stayed at the M22 Empire in the Maple Lane Resort Motel [quite affordable with beach access to Little Glen btw #checkitout]

We’re up here because yours truly and family are having a private ceremony to bring our father back home to likely his favorite place on the earth. That place is Glen Lake and the immediate surrounding area. We grew up coming here. My father‘s parents had property on Big Glen. All of the aunts, the uncles, the nieces and nephews, the sons and daughters from the extended family converged for at least a couple of weeks if not four or more every year for recreation and relationship building.

We’ve been up here since Wednesday evening and have been going down memory lane. There is an “AM Gold” playlist I am using for driving around here and it sets and fits the vibe of these spaces.

What follows is a photo-log with limited commentary. Feel free to …

We’ll run this thing until the “email truncate” mark. Then maybe an addendum later this week once back home.

There are lots of updates to be following in Ypsi, County and Ann Arbor. Nice work on the 454 new units of affordable housing in Ypsi, DAY and REDY. Look for that and more next Sunday 10am for the Outreach Notebook.

The eyes have it. Peep this:

That’s it for this week. See you next week for an “Independence Day” edition of Outreach Notebook.

We wouldn’t be here if you hadn’t been there.™
